RETURN AND WARRANTY POLICY

Last updated: Mon 11 May 2026

We've spent 19 years standing behind what we sell. This page tells you exactly what that means in practice — for returns, for replacements, and for warranty.

Read it before you buy, so there are no surprises after. And if anything is unclear, just ask the store team. They have a copy of this policy at every counter.

1. The Skycell Promise

Every product you buy at Skycell — whether it's a smartphone, accessory, gadget, or wearable — comes with:

  • The full manufacturer warranty that comes with the device
  • The full benefit of our in-house service team for support, repairs, and warranty coordination.
  • A clear, honest replacement and return policy as set out below.

Skycell is an authorised retailer. We don't sell grey-market or refurbished goods unless they're clearly labelled as such on a separately marked "Pre-Owned / Certified Refurbished" shelf.

2. How Our Returns Work — The Honest Truth

We need to be straightforward about something most customers don't realise:

Mobile phones and electronic devices are generally non-returnable once purchased and activated — this is the standard practice across all authorised retailers in India, set by the manufacturers themselves. Once a phone is unboxed, activated, and registered, it's considered "used" and cannot be resold as new.

Because of this, we recommend you:

  • Test the phone you want at the store before buying
  • Ask all your questions before payment — our team is happy to walk you through everything
  • Let you enquire about products, prices, EMI options, exchanges, and repairs
  • Compare models in person — that's what our stores are for

That said, we don't hide behind manufacturer rules. The next sections explain exactly what we will do for you.

3. Dead-on-Arrival (DOA) Replacement

If your brand-new smartphone or device turns out to be defective right out of the box, we'll handle it:

  • What qualifies as DOA: the device doesn't power on, has a screen defect, has a non-working button or port, or shows a major manufacturing fault — confirmed by inspection.
  • Time window: report it to the store of purchase within 7 days of the date on your invoice. (For some brands, the manufacturer's DOA window is shorter — 48 to 72 hours — and we'll honour the longer of the two wherever possible.)
  • What we do: we coordinate with the brand's authorised service centre to confirm the defect. Once confirmed as a manufacturing defect, we arrange a replacement unit of the same model — subject to stock and the manufacturer's DOA policy.
  • What you need to bring: the device, all original accessories, the box, the invoice, and any free items that came with it.

If the manufacturer's authorised service centre determines the issue is not a manufacturing defect (for example, accidental damage), the DOA replacement doesn't apply — but the device will still be covered under standard warranty for genuine warranty issues.

4. Accessories — Return and Replacement

We try to keep all product information on this site as accurate as possible — specifications, descriptions, images, prices, and offers. But:

  • Return window: 7 days from the date of invoice, if the product is unused, unopened, and in its original sealed packaging.
  • What you'll get: a full refund in the same payment method, or an exchange for another product of equal value.
  • What's not returnable once opened: in-ear earphones, earbuds, screen guards (once fitted), SIM ejector tools, and anything where the seal is broken — for hygiene and safety reasons.
  • Defective accessories: if an accessory stops working within its warranty period, bring it back with the invoice. We'll either replace it or send it for warranty service depending on the brand's policy.

5. What's Not Eligible for Return

To keep things fair, the following are not eligible for return or refund:

  • Phones that have been activated, used, or registered with a SIM or any account
  • Products without the original invoice
  • Products with missing accessories, box, or warranty card
  • Products with physical damage, liquid damage, or signs of tampering
  • Products bought during clearance sales clearly marked "non-returnable"/li>
  • Pre-owned or refurbished items (these come with their own separate warranty terms displayed at the store)
  • Software or digital goods (apps, subscriptions, data plans)

6. Manufacturer Warranty

Every new device sold at Skycell comes with the standard manufacturer warranty offered by the brand — typically:

  • Smartphones: 1 year on the device + 6 months on in-box accessories (varies by brand)
  • Tablets and laptops: 1 year (varies by brand)
  • Smartwatches and wearables: 1 year
  • Audio accessories: 6 months to 1 year (varies by brand)
  • Chargers, cables, cases, screen guards: as per the manufacturer's stated warranty (often 6 months)/li>

The actual warranty period for your device is printed on your invoice and the warranty card inside the box. If the brand offers an extended warranty programme (such as AppleCare+, Samsung Care+, or similar), our store team will explain it before you buy.

Important: the manufacturer's warranty terms — including what's covered, what isn't, and the service process — are decided by the brand, not by Skycell. We help you with the paperwork and coordination, but the actual repair decision lies with the brand's authorised service centre.

7. What the Manufacturer Warranty Covers

Generally, manufacturer warranties cover manufacturing defects under normal use:

  • Hardware failure
  • Battery defects (subject to brand-specific thresholds — usually if capacity drops below a certain percentage within the warranty period)
  • Software faults caused by the manufacturer
  • Component failure not caused by the user

8. What the Manufacturer Warranty Does Not Cover

These exclusions are standard across the industry:

  • Physical damage — drops, cracks, dents, bends
  • Liquid damage — including humidity-related corrosion
  • Damage from unauthorised repair or opening
  • Damage from third-party chargers, cables, or accessories
  • Cosmetic wear and tear from normal use
  • Loss or theft
  • Software issues caused by user installation, jailbreaking, or rooting
  • Damage from natural disasters, surges, or accidents

For damage outside warranty, our in-house service team can still help — repair charges will apply based on the issue and parts needed./p>

9. How to Claim Warranty Through Skycell

We make this as easy as possible:

  • Bring the device to any Skycell store, along with your original invoice and the warranty card.
  • Our team inspects the device and explains what's likely covered.
  • We send the device to the brand's authorised service centre on your behalf (for brands that allow retailer-facilitated service), or guide you to the nearest brand service centre directly.
  • You get regular updates via SMS or WhatsApp on the repair status.
  • The device is returned to you at the same Skycell store, repaired or replaced as per the brand's decision.

WAverage warranty turnaround is 5 to 15 working days, depending on the brand and the issue. Some brands offer same-day or next-day service for certain repairs — we'll tell you upfront.

10. Out-of-Warranty Repairs at Skycell

If your device is out of warranty, or if the damage isn't covered by warranty, our in-house service team can help with:

  • Screen replacement
  • Battery replacement
  • Charging port repair
  • Speaker and microphone repair
  • Camera repair
  • Water damage assessment and recovery
  • Software and OS issues
  • Data backup and transfer

For repairs done at Skycell:

  • We use genuine or OEM-quality parts wherever available, and we'll tell you upfront if a part is OEM vs aftermarket.
  • We offer a 3-month warranty on parts and labour for our in-house repairs (battery and screen replacements specifically — exact terms shared at the time of repair).
  • We give you a written repair quote before starting work — no surprise bills.
  • We return any replaced parts to you if you ask.

11. Exchange and Trade-In Terms

When you exchange your old phone at Skycell:

  • The exchange value is confirmed only after physical inspection at the store.
  • The indicative value shown on our website's exchange estimator is just that — indicative.
  • Final value depends on the phone's model, age, condition, accessories, charger functionality, battery health, original bill, and IMEI verification.
  • The exchanged phone becomes Skycell's property once the new phone is handed over to you. We don't return exchanged phones.
  • Phones with locked accounts (iCloud, Google, MDM, etc.) cannot be accepted for exchange — you must remove all accounts before the transaction.
  • Stolen, lost, or blacklisted phones (verified via IMEI) cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

12. Pre-Owned and Refurbished Devices

Phones sold from our Pre-Owned / Certified Refurbished section come with:

  • A separate warranty period clearly marked on the invoice (typically 3 to 6 months, depending on the device)
  • A "Skycell Certified" check covering basic functionality, battery health, and cosmetic grading
  • A 7-day return-for-exchange window for any unreported defect that appears within that period

Manufacturer warranty does not apply to pre-owned devices unless the original warranty is still active and verifiable — in which case it transfers per the brand's policy.

15. Grievances and Disputes

If something goes wrong with a return, warranty claim, or repair, talk to us first. We'd rather fix it than have you walk away unhappy.

  • First, contact the store manager of the location where you bought the product.
  • If that doesn't resolve it, write to service@skycell.in with your invoice details and the issue.
  • For data-related concerns, see the Grievance Officer details in our Privacy Policy
  • For unresolved disputes, Indian consumer law applies, and the jurisdiction is the courts at Kollam, Kerala.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as brand warranties change, our services evolve, or laws change. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. Purchases made before a change are governed by the policy that was in effect on the invoice date.
